Medical Pain Management

At The Disc Treatment Center, our expert physical therapist NJ aim to monitor and provide pain relief through non-pharmaceutical and non-surgical methods such as physical exercise, physical *therapy, and observation. "Pain management, also known as pain medicine, draws on many disciplines in science and the healing arts to systematically study pain, its prevention, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, as well as the rehabilitation of painful disorders.
The pain may be the result of an injury, surgical intervention, cancer or other particular cause, or may constitute the primary problem, as in neuropathic pain and headache. In spine and musculoskeletal cases, pain management is usually distinguished from surgical treatment, and is employed as an alternative to surgery as part of an aggressive conservative care program, or after surgery to cope with residual or recalcitrant pain.

Pain management NJ and the techniques it uses also help to identify the source of neck and back pain, determine the areas to be addressed surgically, and rehabilitate the patient after surgery. " - Pain Management for Chronic Back Pain by John Revord, MD

Cold Laser Therapy

What is it?
The term cold laser refers to the use of low-intensity or low levels of laser light. Proponents claim that cold laser therapy can reduce pain and inflammation. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers these laser devices experimental, and allows them to be used in investigational studies based on some evidence that they may provide temporary pain relief. Cold laser treatment is thought to help some types of pain, inflammation, and wound healing, although stronger proof is needed. These lasers are used directly on or over the affected area.
What does it treat?
  • Acute and chronic pain
  • Ligament sprains
  • Muscle strain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Back pain
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Don't delay, visit your chiropractor today!

The spine is one of the most important and essential parts of the human body. A chiropractor is trained to restore the spine after general wear and tear from life and reduce pressure on pertinent neurological tissue that is housed in the spine. A visit to your NJ chiropractor will not only help relieve many types of back pain, but could also be a preventative treatment from back problems in the future.

Prevent medical bills from piling up in the future. Americans of all ages, shapes and sizes report having lower back pain. Taking care of the problem when it starts by seeing your chiropractor could prevent serious injury in the future that would cost lots of money to treat.

Why live in pain? Chiropractic treatments have been used since 1895. Since then, chiropractors have delivered lower back and neck pain relief to patients. Why continue to live in pain when simple treatments performed by a chiropractor can have you feeling as good as new.

Disc Treatment Center in New Jersey can take care of all of your chiropractic needs. Our team of medical doctors, therapists and chiropractors is committed to helping you feel better.

Chiropractic Services in NJ
Chiropractic services are those that involve a range of diagnostic methods that include orthopedic and neurological evaluation in order to provide non-invasive/ non-surgical back pain services to chronic pain related to the spine and nervous system.

Chiropractors use safe, spine manipulation methods and conservative management in order to relieve patients of back pain and spine related complications.

"Since the inception of chiropractic medicine in 1895, chiropractors have held as a primary tenet that biomechanical and structural derangement of the spine can affect the nervous system.

Because the nervous system is so intimately related to the spine from an anatomical standpoint, identifying and restoring spinal structural integrity through chiropractic treatments can improve the health of the individual by reducing pressure on sensitive neurological tissue.

The patient history helps the chiropractor to identify the area(s) of complaint. Questions about family history, dietary habits, past history of other treatment(s) (chiropractic, osteopathic, medical and other), occupational history, psychosocial history, and other areas will be asked by the chiropractor to help determine the nature of the illness.

It is important to note that doctors of chiropractic do not utilize drugs or surgery in their practice. However, there are times when a chiropractor will recommend that the patient consult another practitioner if these or other methods of treatment are indicated." -Chiropractic Treatments for Back Pain By Steven G. Nucleoplasty Procedures

What is it?
Nucleoplasty is an option for those people who have failed conservative care, and in many cases provides an alternative to open surgery. It is a minimally invasive procedure that allows you to go home on the same day of the procedure.

Will it help me?
Nucleoplasty allows for controlled tissue removal. This minimizes the possibility of removing too much tissue or tissue beyond the targeted area which can lead to disc degeneration. The procedure does not rely on heat for tissue removal, and does not introduce excessive heat that may cause tissue damage. A minimally invasive approach using only a small needle (1mm or 1/20th inch) minimizes scarring or annular disc damage that may be caused by larger or more aggressive devices.

Nucleoplasty has successfully become a leading method for performing minimally invasive disc decompression and is a leading choice for physicians around the world.

Physical Therapy in NJ
Physical therapy is the art and science of physical care and rehabilitation. It is a health care solution that uses highly-studied and practiced techniques to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout life. Our Physical Therapy program at Disc Treatment Center provides services to accommodate any circumstances related to chronic back pain caused by aging, injury, disease, and other factors.

Some examples of typical physical therapy are:

- "Stretching for back pain exercises. Almost every
individual who has suffered from low back pain
should stretch their hamstring muscles once or twice
daily. Simple hamstring stretching does not take much
time, although it can be difficult to remember, especially
if there is little or no pain. Therefore, hamstring stretching
exercises are best done at the same time every day
so it becomes part of a person’s daily routine.

- Strengthening for back pain exercise. To
strengthen the back muscles, 15-20 minutes
of dynamic lumbar stabilization or other
prescribed exercises should be done every
other day.

- Low-impact aerobic conditioning. Low impact
aerobics (such as walking, bicycling, swimming)
should be done for 30-40 minutes three times
weekly, on alternate days from the strengthening
exercises."
